Monday, 9am: the envelope in the drawer
Many business owners have an envelope like this. Petrol receipts, supplier invoices, Shopee settlement statements and a few faded thermal paper receipts, all stuffed inside.
Every month you say "I'll sort it out this weekend". Then the weekend comes: you need to check stock, send the kids to tuition, go back to the kampung for dinner. The envelope gets thicker.
Then one day the accounting firm calls asking for your year-end accounts, the bank wants your latest management report, and a letter from LHDN arrives. Only then do you realise that nobody remembers who that RM8,000 transfer in March was paid to.
Bookkeeping is really about small monthly tasks
There is no magic in bookkeeping. You put every document into the right account, reconcile with the bank once a month, and make sure the numbers match reality.
The hard part is "every month". The owner is busy, the staff are busy, and this is the easiest job to push to next month.
BookKeeper turns it into a fixed routine: you send documents before an agreed date, and the bookkeeping team delivers reports before an agreed date. When a deadline is near, someone reminds you.
What you need is probably a few of these
Start with the most urgent. Many companies take "monthly bookkeeping + payroll". If you have a backlog, catch up first. Larger businesses also handle e-Invoice and SST.

In e-Invoice Guideline version 4.8 (30 August 2026), LHDN raised the exemption threshold from RM1 million to RM3 million. Businesses with annual turnover below RM3 million that meet the conditions can stop issuing e-Invoices, or continue voluntarily. If your company is already connected to MyInvois, don't rush to switch it off. Check what your customers and suppliers need first, then decide. Read the full explanation

Every year end I used to turn the office upside down looking for receipts. Now I photograph my documents and send them every month, and the reports arrive on the agreed date. When the bank asks for documents, there's no last-minute rush.
My company hadn't done its books for two years and I thought the penalties would be huge. The team first sorted out the priorities, caught up the books within three months, and we made the Form C deadline too.
When I hired my first staff, I knew nothing about EPF, SOCSO or PCB. Now someone reminds me before every monthly deadline. I just check the amounts and pay.
